Meet the Staff

Norman and Nancy Witek

2008 marks the 35th year Norm has been a Director of summer running camps. He is a former Brevard College Cross-Country & Track Coach (1967 - 1986), producing a record 5 consecutive NJCAA Championship teams. He is a 3-time National Coach of the Year and member of the NJCAA Hall of Fame. He is currently a Professor of Exercise Science at Brevard College and a recent inductee into the Brevard College Hall of Fame. Nancy heads the Administrative team.

Dave and Sue Rinker

Dave & Sue have played a major role in the camp development. Dave has been Director of summer running camps for more than 18 years and is also a former Brevard College Cross-Country & Track Coach (1984 - 1999), a 2-time National Coach of the Year and a member of the NJCAA Hall of Fame. He is currently the Head Cross-Country Coach at James Madison University. Sue is the head cross country coach at Spotswood High School in Virginia and is an intrical part of the administrative team.

Terry and Ruth Smith

Terry & Ruth have been associated with the camp for over 25 years. Terry coaches at Pinewood High School and is the author of three books, the latest one "Chasing the Wind's Shadow". Terry is responsible for the daily operations of the camp and Ruth handles housing, dorm duties and office duties.

Don Foy

Don is the Cross Country Coach at East Rankin Academy, MS. Don serves in major administrative roles.

Raymond Brewer

Raymond is a former Brevard College Runner who is in charge of running drills. He is currently volunteering his services at Davidson College.

John and Blanca Erickson

John is a former NJCAA All American at Brevard College. John is an excellent speaker and is in charge of our Afternoon Runs. Blanca is our yoga instructor. John and Blanca have more than 15 years experience at camp.

Thomas Cason

Thomas is the current cross country coach and track and field coach at Brevard College. Thomas is a former Furman University All- Southern Conference cross country runner. He is in charge of the Junior Staff.

Sheila Haire

Shelia is our camp nurse. She is an active Masters Runner and former assistant coach at Stetson University.

Ken Goglas

Ken is the current track and cross country coach at Brevard College. Ken ran for University of Connecticut.
